Privacy Policy

Bent Prop Hats LLC (“Bent Prop Hats”, “we”, “us”) makes Northwoods hats and patches in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. This policy covers bentprophats.com.

The shop is not open yet. Today the site does one thing: it lets you join our list. This policy describes exactly that, and nothing more.

When you sign up, we collect:

• Your email address — always.
• Your mobile number — only if you tick the text-message consent box. Without that box ticked, a number is refused and never stored.
• A record of your consent — the date and time, the exact wording you were shown, a hashed form of your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. We store the hash rather than the address itself so we are not keeping a plain record of where you connected from. We should be straight with you about the limits of that: hashing an IP address reduces exposure, it does not make it anonymous, and we still treat the hash as personal information.

We do not use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels or any other tracking on this site. There is nothing following you around, and there is no third-party script running on the page.

We do not currently take payments, process orders or hold shipping addresses. When the shop opens, this policy will be updated before that changes.

• To tell you when the shop opens.
• To tell you where to find us at pop-up events.
• To send occasional news about new patches and hats — only on the channels you agreed to.
• To keep a record that you consented, which is a legal requirement for marketing messages.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

We use double opt-in. After you sign up we email you a confirmation link, and you are only added to the list once you click it. If you never click, you hear nothing further from us.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing is immediate and permanent unless you sign up again.

• Your number stays yours: we do not sell it, and we never share mobile opt-in data or consent with third parties for their marketing.

Only the services that run the site. Each acts as our processor, under contract, and none may use your information for their own purposes:

• Brevo — sends our email and holds the mailing list.
• Supabase — stores the consent record.
• Vercel — hosts the website.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if the business is sold — in which case this policy travels with it.

We keep your contact details until you unsubscribe, and consent records for as long as we are required to be able to evidence that consent. Unsubscribing removes you from the list; the consent record is kept because deleting it would destroy the proof that you asked to hear from us in the first place.

You can ask us to:

• tell you what we hold about you;
• correct anything that is wrong;
• delete your information;
• stop contacting you, on any channel or all of them.

Email hello@bentprophats.com and we will action it. You never have to give a reason.

The site is served over HTTPS. Consent records are held in a database table with no public access at all — it cannot be read or written from a browser, only by the server. We hash IP addresses rather than storing them.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects you, we will tell you.

This site is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

If we change how we handle your information — particularly when the shop opens and we begin taking orders — we will update this page and change the effective date above. Material changes to the SMS terms come with a new consent version, and we will ask you again rather than assume your old consent still applies.
